SARAH’S BRAN MUFFINS

This recipe is supersonically simple but inexplicably delicious, especially slathered with butter.

Makes 12

1 tablespoon butter

2 tablespoons golden syrup

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 cup milk

1 cup bran

1 cup flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

Preheat the oven to 180°C.

Melt together the butter and golden syrup.

Dissolve the baking soda in a little of the milk, and add this to the butter and golden syrup.

Sift the dry ingredients into the milk mixture, add the rest of the milk and stir well.
